First steps with SpreadSheet/Visad

I just downloaded the visad.jar file and the file to run the SpreadSheet with
sample data offered by you. I wanted to run the applicatin on Sun Solaris with
jkd12.beta4.

I also consulted the README files, and followed the instructions and installed
the
Java3D and set the CLASSPATH to the visad.jar file.

When I'm running the SpreadSheed the following messages are computed :

i40:/proj/MAZ/metAP/Installation/VisAD[70]> java visad.ss.SpreadSheet
         java.lang.NullPointerException
         at visad.DisplayImpl.doAction(Compiled Code)
         at visad.ActionImpl.run(Compiled Code)

by importing the data e.g rad.nc the message is:

Couldn't decode attribute rpt_date:units="YYYYDDMM UTC": Unit not in database
Couldn't decode attribute rpt_time:units="HHMM UTC": Unit not in database
Couldn't decode attribute opstat:units="ennumerated in rarep.h": Unit not in
database
Couldn't decode attribute object:units="ennumerated in rarep.h": Unit not in
database
etc..

by importing b2rlc.nc there isn't a lot to see in the selected SpreadSheet's
cell.

What am I doing wrong or do I miss something ?

Thanks in advance!

Susanne Huber
