Subject:  U.S. Drought Monitor Impact Type Labels Change
          Effective September 29, 2011

The U.S. Drought Monitor impact type labels and drought impact
types key will change. The Agricultural (A) and Hydrological (H)
impact types will become Short-Term (S) and Long-Term (L),
respectively. The drought impact types key will change from

A = Agricultural (Crops, Pastures, Grasslands) to
S = Short-Term, Typically less than 6 months (e.g. Agriculture,
Grasslands), and from:
H = Hydrological (Water) to
L = Long-Term, Typically greater than 6 months (E.G. Hydrology,
Ecology)
