20060818: NCEP update

SUBJECT:		Changes to the NWS Production Suite




1.  The moratorium on changes to the NCEP Production Suite will begin on Tuesday, 22 August and conclude when the new system becomes operational in January 2007.  Any request for changes to the Production Suite that has not already been scheduled will not be implemented prior to the moratorium.  The installation of the replacement system (Mist) for Blue is progressing on schedule.  Acceptance testing for the new system began on 15 August.  Users should have access to the system in late September.  More details on the transition schedule will be provided as they become available. 

2.  Upcoming changes to NCEP's production suite can be viewed at the following website: 

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/changes/ 

This WEB site contains details on any product or timing changes that are associated with upcoming implementations.
