20060816: data outage

On Thursday August 17 at 7:00am EDT (11:00 UTC), NCEP will perform 
maintenance on their router that is connected to the NWS 
Telecommunications Gateway (NWSTG  Washington, DC).

A maintenance period of 20min  is scheduled, but we hope the actual 
downtime will be less. 


_*Affected Traffic:
*_
NWSTG servers will be accessible to customers during the maintenance period.

However, we expect an interruption of NCEP data traffic to/from NWSTG 
during the maintenance period.  Customers attempting to download NCEP 
data may experience a delay in its availability.


_*Critical Weather:*_

If the scheduled date is designated a Critical Weather Day, the outage
will be postponed.
 

We apologize for any inconvenience that this outage may cause.  Please
contact me if the timing of this outage presents a critical problem for
your operations.

Please forward this message to anyone who will be affected by this
action but was left off the mailing list.  I would appreciate if you
would send me the email address of anyone that should be informed of
scheduled downtime in the future, but was not included in the current
list.  Also, inform me if you wish to have your name removed from this
list.
