SUBJECT:    TERMINATION OF LFM
 
     THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LIMITED-AREA FINE-MESH MODEL (LFM) BY
THE ETA MODEL WAS INITIATED IN 1993.  THESE MODELS HAVE...
RESPECTIVELY...PROVIDED AN EARLY LOOK AT THE SYNOPTIC SCALE
FORECAST.  WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ETA MODEL... MOST PRODUCTS
THAT WERE GENERATED FROM THE LFM WERE DERIVED FROM EITHER THE ETA
MODEL OR THE NESTED GRID MODEL (NGM).  WHILE SOME LFM FORECAST
PRODUCTS WERE ELIMINATED... A FEW PRODUCTS REMAINED LFM-BASED UNTIL
THE CONVERSION WAS COMPLETED.  THAT CONVERSION IS NOW COMPLETE.  THE
LFM IS TO BE TERMINATED ON OR ABOUT FEBRUARY 28 1996.  AT THAT
TIME... THE REMAINING LFM DATA AND PRODUCTS WILL NO LONGER BE
AVAILABLE.  THE AFFECTED PRODUCTS ARE LISTED AT THE END OF THIS
MESSAGE.  IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS RELATED TO THE TERMINATION OF THE
