     EFFECTIVE MONDAY APRIL 1 1996 AT 400 AM CST /1000 UNIVERSAL
COORDINATED TIME/...PUBLIC FORECAST AND LONG-FUSE WATCH/WARNING AND
ADVISORY RESPONSIBILITY FOR PART OF NORTHEAST NEBRASKA...SOUTHEAST
SOUTH DAKOTA...AND WESTERN IOWA WILL BE TRANSFERRED FROM THE WEATHER
SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE /WSFO/ IN DES MOINES /DSM/ TO THE WSFOS IN
SIOUX FALLS /FSD/...SOUTH DAKOTA AND OMAHA /OMA/...NEBRASKA.

     THIS TRANSFER OF RESPONSIBILITY WILL PROVIDE AN IMPROVED LEVEL
OF SERVICE TO THE AFFECTED AREAS AS ALL NWS FORECAST AND WARNING
PRODUCTS /SHORT AND LONG TERM/ WILL ORIGINATE FROM ONE SERVICING NWS
OFFICE...BASED ON DOPPLER WEATHER SURVEILLANCE RADAR /WSR-88D/
COVERAGE FROM WSFOS FSD AND OMA.  PRIOR TO THIS ADJUSTMENT...SHORT-
FUSE FORECAST AND WARNING PRODUCTS WERE ISSUED FROM ONE NWS OFFICE
WHILE A DIFFERENT OFFICE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR OTHER PUBLIC PRODUCTS
FOR THE SAME AREA.

     FOR THE AFFECTED ZONES /TABLES 1 AND 3/...SUBSCRIBERS TO THE
NOAA WEATHER WIRE SERVICE /NWWS/ AND FAMILY OF SERVICES /FOS/ MUST
TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO RECEIVE PRODUCTS USING THE FSD IDENTIFIER
/TABLE 2/ OR THE OMA IDENTIFIER /TABLE 4/ INSTEAD OF THE DSM
IDENTIFIER.
