Time frame for netCDF-4 release

Hi,

Does anybody have a good feel for when netCDF-4 betas / production release are likely to be?

I note that its awaiting HDF5-1.8 release and I note that this is currently on its fourth alpha with no stated time line going forward (AFAICT). I also note that the published netCDF-4 schedule suggested betas in Feb 06 and 4.0 release at May 06. I've seen suggestions of both October 06 and (more recently) December 06. What's the current expectation? (and how confident are you? -- sorry I realize thats a difficult question, but I'm trying to get a feel for how realistic basing our new remote sensing infrastructure around netCDF-4 really is.)

On a secondary point, what is the state of development towards 4.1 and support for coordinate systems and scientific datatypes of the CDM? How closely are the C / Fortran interfaces likely to reflect the NJ22 prototype?

kind regards
Simon
