NetCDF UTI's on Mac OS X

Indeed. Of course I only noticed them seconds after hitting Send.

That's an unfortunate fact of life. I haven't checked, nor yet read  
the whole thread you referenced, but if Apple implemented this right  
it should give precedence to edu.ucar.unidata.netcdf over  
edu.ucar.unidata.netcdf.andi since the latter conforms to the  
former.  In other words a netcdf.andi is a netcdf, but a netcdf is  
not a netcdf.andi.

Oh well... I suppose that application/x-netcdf-andi is a good  
candidate, but I'll assume that most often it comes as application/x- 
netcdf.

That sounds like a good idea. I will do that. I'll post here once  
more before I do that.
