A (very good) comment about LDM 6.6.5...

For those who had trouble with extracting METARs and such with the LDM, do 
download this version and see if the bugs have been fixed. Between the 
size/length of the METAR/bulletin problem fixed and then the spurious 
character problem also fixed in 6.6.5 (not sure if that did anything, but 
it both seemed to fix the problems), give this a whirl and see if you can 
get it to do what you wanted to before. You should now see all SPECIs and 
I think you should be able to do what you want with single METARs as well.
