[ANNOUNCE] LDM availability of IEM Data

Hiya!

My project, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet [IEM], is pleased to announce
the availablity of IEM real-time datasets via LDM in METAR format.
Details on how you can request a feed can be found on this page

http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/request/ldm.php

We are offering data from the Iowa Roadway Weather Information System
[RWIS] and from the KCCI-TV8 Des Moines school network [SNET]. There are
a total of 93 stations in these two networks.

Eventhough the METAR format does not account for all variables measured at
the sites, the GEMPAK decoder, which many people use, can easily process
this data. If there are other formats you are interested in, please let
me know. I can try to accomodate your needs.

The webpage highlights this point, but I want to emphasize it. These
stations are NOT of the quality the AWOS and ASOS are. Be careful about
integrating this dataset with other networks. We suggest creating a
seperate GEMPAK surface file for this dataset. But you can do what you
want, including filing this email in the bit-bucket :)

Thanks
  Daryl
