Dear Unidata/COMET Community:

The Unidata Program Center will showcase best practices in the use of Unidata applications and data in a weeklong summer workshop scheduled for 19-23 June, 2000 in Boulder, Colorado. The workshop will provide hands-on sessions and pedagogical guidance for helping attendees to incorporate these kinds of activities into undergraduate and graduate education and research. The National Science Foundation and the COMET program funded by the National Weather Service) are sponsoring the Workshop.

Topics will include:

  • Techniques for using Unidata applications or data;
  • New Directions in Software for Geoscience (VisAd, MetApps, Page);
  • Numerical Weather Prediction using model and observational data sets;
  • General Course applications (e.g. dynamics, thermodynamics;
    instrumentation, atmospheric and ocean physics, introductory courses . . . ).

Presenters are sought who will demonstrate and discuss experiences that promote active learning opportunities relating to these topics.

If you are interested in participating as a presenter at this workshop or would like to nominate someone you know, please fill in a speaker volunteer form.
