UCAR FL2
NOAA and UCAR’s Unidata Program are sponsoring a workshop to develop Community Standards for Unstructured Grids on October 16-17, 2006 in Boulder, Colorado. The goal of the workshop will be to agree upon a provisional profile (i.e. metadata standards) for unstructured grid data in netCDF based upon an evaluation of the existing candidate profiles and issues that we identify.  To this end, we are limiting attendance to about 25-30 key people and expect this to be a highly technical meeting. The discussions that we begin at the workshop will be continued through an open, moderated web site, leading to a well-tested and widely-accepted standard for publication.  A second workshop may be held about six months later if deemed necessary.
