
As a service to the community, Millersville University will
sponsor a Unidata Regional Workshop June 6-8, 2004. The purpose of this workshop
is to provide introductory and advanced training in the use of Unidata's Integrated
Data Viewer (IDV), and to present use cases of IDV and other Unidata services
(data and tools) in the classroom. The day-and-a-half workshop will consist
of three sessions, as well as an optional afternoon session on the last day.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their specific needs/challenges/ideas
with the Unidata staff during break-out sessions Monday and Tuesday.

- Sunday, June 6 - Reception, 7:00pm
The workshop will begin with a reception and ice-breaker
at 7:00pm Sunday evening, June 6th on the deck of the Weather Center, Caputo
Building #50.
- Monday, June 7 - Morning Session, 8:30am-12:00pm
Introduction to the IDV
This hands-on session will cover installation and basic use of the Integrated
Data Viewer (IDV). Attendees will learn how to access and display gridded,
satellite, radar (Level II and Level III), surface and upper air data. They
will learn how to save the state and views in the IDV.

Use of Unidata Services in the Classroom
This session of presenters (all Unidata community members) will focus on their
active use of IDV and other applications in the classroom.
- Tuesday, June 8 - Morning Session, 8:30am-12:00pm
Advanced IDV
This hands-on session will cover the diagnostic capabilities
of the IDV and how to customize it. Attendees will learn how to use the system
formulas, create their own custom formulas, and how to use the Jython interface
for more complex diagnostics. Topics on customization will cover setting user
preferences, creating custom color tables, and setting parameter defaults.

IDV Optional Session
The IDV developers will provide a free-form session for attendees
to discuss more advanced topics, such as real-time collaboration with the
IDV, doing more with Jython, site configuration, and developing new features
for the IDV.
