Expanding Horizons Workshop Details

  Description
The workshop will provide hands-on sessions and lectures demonstrating the uses of Unidata supported software and data (in particular the Integrated Data Viewer) and emerging GIS technologies from leading educators and practitioners in the geophysical sciences, public safety, and public policy communities. This workshop, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of Unidata’s conception, will highlight Unidata’s historical contribution to the Atmospheric Sciences, as well as lay out a vision of Unidata’s future in the broader geosciences.

Session Topics Include:

Dates: Check in at CU Housing begins at 3pm on June 22nd and is followed by a reception from 4 to 7 pm.  the workshop begins the following morning, Monday, June 23rd and runs until noon of Friday, June 27th.
Format: The first half of each day will be lectures with labs each afternoon. There will be breaks throughout the day.  We will break at the same time each day for lunch so you can easily make plans to meet with colleagues.
Location: The Foothills Campus at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado.  Map.
Lodging: Williams Village complex on the University of Colorado Campus. More on the logistics page.
Fees: A $40 non-refundable registration fee is due with registration to guarantee participation. Payment can be made by check or on-line with a credit card.
Other Costs: Attendees will provide and arrange for their own travel to and from Boulder.
  The workshop sponsors will pay for lodging and local transportation for all college or university faculty members and sponsored guests. Breakfast and lunch are included Monday-Friday. Dinner is provided on Tuesday and Thursday.
Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships are available for guests whose institutions are unable to pay for their travel to Boulder.  Please contact Emily Doremire at support-workshop@unidata.ucar.edu for details.
