| NetCDF Development Snapshots |
| Development snapshots allow advanced users to see
features under active development. The feedback from such users
is extremely helpful to netCDF developers. WARNING: Development
snapshots are experimental. They should not be used for
production systems, nor to create archives; their files may not
be readable to future releases; they may not smoothly install on
the full set of supported netCDF platforms. |

NetCDF-3 snapshots allow developers of netCDF
applications to stay current with the netCDF library as it is
developed. |
netCDF-4 snapshots
NetCDF-4 snapshots allow developers of explore the
new features of NetCDF-4 as they are developed, including
groups, per-variable compression, parallel I/O, user-defined
types, and more. Fully backward compatible, the netCDF-4 release
can read and write classic format data files, as well as using
HDF5 as a storage format (which requires HDF5 and
zlib). |
