NetCDF-4
NetCDF-4 is the next major upgrade to the netCDF
standard. While supporting full backward compatibility,
it allows users to read and write HDF5
files with the netCDF API, including support for
groups, user-defined types, per-variable compression,
and parallel I/O.

We are pleased to
release version 4.0 of netCDF. This
release requires HDF5 1.8.1.

NetCDF-4.0-beta2 Released
This beta is
the final beta release of version 4.0. This
release requires HDF5-1.8.0-snap5.tar.gz.

HDF5 1.8.0 Released
The HDF5 team has
released version 1.8.0, on which netCDF-4
depends. NetCDF-4.0 beta2 will be released in a
few weeks. If all goes well over the beta period,
the netCDF-4.0 release will come a few months
later. NetCDF-4 users should use the latest daily
snapshot, and HDF5-1.8.0, both available on the
netCDF-4
snapshot build page.

NetCDF 4.0-beta1 Released

version 4.0-beta1 has been released. This
requires HDF5 1.8.0 beta1, and zlib-1.2.3. See
