NIMAGE feed product id information for GOES

The NIMAGE feed utilizes the WMO standard for product id information (i.e. TTAAii CCCC).  Specific information can be found in the NESDIS interface control document for NOAAPORT which defines the "TTAAii KNES" product schemes for the NIMAGE data feed.  It can be found at: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/noaaport/document/ then follow the link to icd_ch4 (either pdf of wpd whichever is your preferred format).  Start with section 4.1 on page 10.

The Unidata pqing (product queue ingest) program provides product id information above and beyond what is available in the NESDIS WMO product schemes.  This is accomplished by breaking open the file on ingest and obtaining additional information such as Satellite number, channel number, etc.

An example of this is:satz/ch2/GOES-10/WV/20040521 1400/AK-REGIONAL/16km/ TIGA05 KNES 211400

As a template of this for further discussion we have the following fields:1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

Field 1:             sat or satz – indicates a satellite product and whether or not the product is zlib compressed.

Field 2: The channel number.

Field 3:             The GOES satellite number.

Field 4:             A code that is equivalent to a lookup of the ii portion of the NESDIS WMO product scheme.  I have not yet found a table of possible values taken on by this field.  One can “reverse engineer” them from the table of possible ii values.

Field 5: Date and Time information.

Field 6:             Location information – this is a lookup into the table for the second A value in the NESDIS WMO interface control specification.  I have not yet found a table of possible values taken on by this field.  One can “reverse engineer” them from the table of possible A2 values.

Field 7:             The resolution of the product.

Field 8:             The original NESDS WMO header value.
