Decoders Status

The decoders packages have been split into Java, perl, and c decoders packages to better suit the needs of the end users and to be able to deprecate the c (gribtonc) decoder package. This package is being deprecated because of it's limitation of not able to decode Grib2 format, compile problems, and static parameter table. The decoders page on the Unidata web site has been updated to reflect these changes.

GRIB Java Decoder Package

The Grib Java Libraries are mainly in maintenance mode since the official release 2006. Again there has been updates to the parameter tables for both the Grib1 and the Grib2 formats. A major change was to add the parameter table information to the parameter rows in the Grib1 index file. This allows a single model to use multiple tables, this has been the case for some of the newer models. Other minor fixes were the correction for the number of bands in the Grid Space products and support for Reduced Gaussian grids from ECMWF.

c Decoder Package

The distribution format has been change from Z to gz compression.

A release of the c code netCDF-Decoder package:

4.1.6 2007-08-20 fixed typo in eta_211.cdl and other minor fixes.

perl Java Decoder Package

The distribution format has been change from Z to gz compression.

BUFR Java Decoder Package

The BUFR Java library remains in beta release. New tables have been added, the 012 version tables that will decode the latest BUFR type data from NWS.
