Jim Steenburgh said that Unidata should concentrate on delivery of real-time data, but repository role is beyond Unidata's scope

Mike Piasecki - Can Unidata provide a "service layer" to guide individual PIs to "real" data archiving centers?
- Rob FovelChoice between trying to encourage a federated system of
data access vs a centralized (easy) service. "There needs to
be a hub"
- ACTION: To explore partnerships that allow Unidata to *facilitate* long term
archiving and discovery of long-tail data.
- RESOLUTION: The Policy Committee supports the UPC in continued support and development
of RAMADDA-like functionality.
Changes to UCP Structure and Leadership
Mohan provided an overview of the discussions going on within UCAR about the current
and future structure and organization of the UCAR Community Programs. There was some
discussion of the need for/value of a leadership position within UCP (Jack Fellows'
old position). Can a person in a position like that encourage groups to work together?
Or is it just overhead?
