- 1:00 p.m. - Continued discussion of merging CRAFT with CONDUIT

- 1:30 - Univ running local models - Mohan Ramamurthy, Kelvin Droegemeier,
et al.
- Many institutions are running mesoscale models (like WRF, MM5
and
Workstation Eta) locally (about 30 at last count). We can think
of
this aggregation as a national forecasting instrument. Only one
or
two groups (OU/CAPS, Utah) are initializing their local model runs
with
local/regional observations - A vast majority of them are only using
coarse grids from operational models for initial and boundary conditions.
Natural desire to integrate with information from other sources
(e.g.,
hydrology, infrastructure, societal datasets in GIS form)
- Many universities may be interested in sharing the output from
their local model runs with others in the community; One way to
do that
would be to create THREDDS servers from their output
- Can Unidata, NCAR/MMM, universities, and USWRP work together
to address these needs and other ways to help the community?
